PC Energy Critic and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says a recent multi-stop tour of Ontario energy installations will lay the groundwork for development of an energy policy that really works for Ontarians.
“I will take the knowledge that I’ve gained over the past few weeks back to my caucus and we’ll start to formulate a plan going forward,” said Fedeli.
On Monday, Fedeli toured Ontario Power Generation’s Darlington and Pickering nuclear facilities east of Toronto. Last week, he visited OPG’s Sir Adam Beck generating stations at Niagara Falls and also inspected the “Big Becky” tunnel being completed there.
Fedeli also spent time this month at the DeCew and Heywood hydroelectric plants in the Niagara region, and attended a town hall meeting in Picton with fellow PC MPP Todd Smith (Prince Edward-Hastings) which saw over 300 wind turbine opponents in attendance.
Last month, Fedeli joined PC colleague Lisa Thompson (Huron-Bruce) touring wind and solar installations in her riding and the Bruce Nuclear generating facility along with CEO Duncan Hawthorne.
“I have learned a great deal about the complexity and inner workings of Ontario’s energy system through these visits,” said Fedeli, who will also tour the Dawn natural gas facility in Sarnia next month.
