The provincial government of Isabela created its own rescue unit called Rescue 831.
Also known a Disaster Action Rescue Team (DART), Rescue 831 will be primarily be stationed at the province’s disaster risk reduction and management council (PDRRMC) operations center located at the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council.
Armand Araneta, PDRRMC secretariat, said Rescue 831 is equipped with new advance support ambulance, rescue equipments for victims of car accidents and rubber boats that will be used in flooded areas when there are calamities.
Aside from the rescue equipments, the PDRRMC also set up its own automatic weather season for tracking the entry of typhoons, measure wind velocity, rain gauge and other important data related to calamities.
“The provincial government through the present leadership wanted a “zero casualty” and investing on disaster preparedness is a top priority”, Araneta said.
The new rescue equipment and gadgets were inaugurated yesterday at the PDRRMC operations center where these are housed.
Aside from the gadgets and rescue equipment, a monitoring board is also installed within the premises of the operation center as important data are recorded for closely monitoring of evacuees, relief goods available, rescue units dispatched and other data needed in the monitoring before, during and after calamities.
