The Department of Social Welfare and Development will have a new Regional Director.

Assistant Regional Director for Operations Nestor Ramos disclosed during the recent episode of Suruswerte Ha PIA radio program over a local AM station, that Director Remia Tapispisan of DSWD Reg. 5 will replace DSWD-8 Director Leticia Diokno who has been assigned to Region 4-A and was formally installed on January 8.

ARD Ramos further said that on January 10, Director Diokno will be in the Region to turn over the leadership at the DSWD 8.The installation of the new Regional Director will take place at 9 am January 10 at the Leyte Park Resort Hotel in Tacloban City.

ARD Ramos said the officers of the Region Eight Administrators League (REAL), as well as other stakeholders from all over the Region have been invited to witness the installation ceremony.

Despite the leadership change in the DSWD Regional office, expect no changes in the implementation of poverty-alleviation projects in Eastern Visayas, ARD Ramos said.

The DSWD 8 will continue to make the most of the national government’s projects such as the conditional cash transfer program to reduce poverty in Eastern Visayas, ARD Ramos added.

Director Diokno who hails from Region 5, has been with the DSWD in Eastern Visayas since the late 80’s serving the region in various capacities until she became the Regional Director.

Meanwhile, incoming Director Tapispisan, a native of Tangalan, Aklan, studied at the University of Santo Tomas and Ateneo de Davao University. (EOPT/PIA 8)
