Immediately after the resolution of the land conflict between two warring groups in the town of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao, a medical/dental outreach program was conducted to cater to the health and medical care needs of indigents in the area on February 20.
The activity was initiated by the Maguindanao Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) supported by the Army’s 45th Infantry Battalion, provincial government and the municipal officials led by Rajah Buayan mayor Yacob Ampatuan.
IPHO-Maguindanao chief Dr. Tahir Sulaik said, more than 1,000 residents have availed of the free medical consultation, medicines, vitamins for adults and children, dental extraction and other health care services.
With the situation having been restored to normalcy, Sulaik said, the more than 1,700 IDPs start to return to their homes and were also served.
The group has likewise conducted dental brushing drill, lectures on proper heart care as well as maternal and infant issues and concerns, Sulaik said.
“Very fulfilling ang ating medical mission dahil nakapagkaloob tayo ng serbisyong pangkalusugan sa ating mga kababayan na may kalayuan at may kahirapan na maabot kaya nagsagawa rin tayo ng dental brush drill. lecture sa tamang pangangalaga ng puso tamang-tama dahil sisi-celebrate natin ang dental at heart month ngayon buwan ng Pebrero,” Sulaik said.
The regular conduct of the medical/dental outreach mission is continuous undertaking of the Maguindanao provincial government, IPHO-Maguindanao, the military, non-government organization, civil-society groups and local government units, Sulaik added. (pbchangco/PIA Cotabato City)
