Search and rescue efforts are ongoing for the missing plane carrying Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and his companions. The Seneca twin engine aircraft plane crashed off the coast of Masbate Saturday (August 18) afternoon.

As this developed, Malacanang called on the Filipino people to join the President and the cabinet in prayer for his successful rescue.

“We ask that the (rescue) efforts be allowed to continue unimpeded and without speculation on the part of the public. We must remain focused on the task: to find Sec. Robredo and his companions, and to bring them to safety,” Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said in a statement. (PIA-Central)
