‘Igme’ now a tropical storm

Tropical depression ‘Igme’ has intensified into a tropical storm, state weather bureau said.

Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (Pagasa) said that at 4:00 pm today, Tropical Storm "Igme" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 315 km East Southeast of Aparri, Cagayan (17.6°N 124.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.

It is forecast to move north slowly.

Cagayan and Isabela will experience rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be rough to very rough.

The rest of Luzon will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over the rest of Northern Luzon and the Western sections of Central and Southern Luzon which may trigger flashfloods and landslides.
Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest and west will prevail over Visayas and the rest of Luzon. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest with slight to moderate seas.
