DOH-12 needs P65.4-M for community hospital

The Department of Health (DOH) 12 needs P65.4 million to complete the construction of the Upper Valley Community Hospital (UVCH) in Barangay Dajay, Surallah, South Cotabato.

“DOH 12 has proposed P50 million for the continuation of the construction of the building, and P15,487,00 for hospital equipment,” Dr. Francisco Mateo , OIC of the Local Health Support Division of DOH 12, told participants of the ground breaking rites .

Regional Director Dr. Marlyn Convocar was unable to attend the ceremony because she was in Metro Manila to defend the DOH 12 budget for 2013 which includes the P65.4 million for the UVCH, Mateo said.

Mateo said their support to the project is in line with their advocacy for “Pangkalahatang Kalusugan. We strive that every Filipino be provided with quality health facilities with quality health services.”

“We at DOH 12 are one with the governor, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, and the officials of the five municipalities in the Upper Valley in realizing the dream of a hospital in this area,” he continued. “Be assured that DOH 12 will continue to support you until we have achieved our goal.”

In response to Dr. Mateo’s announcement , Gov. Arthur Y. Pingoy Jr. said the support from DOH is very welcome.

“We are very thankful to DOH, especially Health Secretary Enrique Ona, for the assistance that they have extended to us,” he said. “For sure, this will benefit the people of South Cotabato in terms of delivery of better health care services.”

DOH through its Health Facilities Enhancement Program allotted nearly P28 million to build part of the pentagon-shaped main hospital building that would enable to hospital to initially operate as a maternal health facility in the first semester of 2013.
