Inspired by the huge success of the 2011 "Igpat sang Kamera," Tacurong City unveiled this year’s photography and feature writing contests as part of the observance of the city’s founding anniversary.
“This year, we are hoping that Igpat participants will be able to capture our city as a vibrant tourist destination, as we also enjoy merrymaking with the Talakudong Festival,” Tacurong City Mayor Lina Montilla said.
Themed “It’s More Fun in the City of Goodwill,” 2012 Igpat sang Kamera will showcase in photos the city’s potentials as the upcoming local destinations for tourists.
Cash prizes await participants of Igpat sang Kamera 2012 photo contest, which is open to all hobbyists as well as professional photographers.
For the first time in observing the Talakudong Festival, a feature writing contest is included. Organizers said this is to encourage interested scribes to write about the city’s people and their way of life, business and economy, environment, tourism, governance and others more.
Tacurong was created a municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 462 signed by the late President Elpidio Quirino on August 3, 1951.
After 49 years as a municipality, it became the first component city of the province of Sultan Kudarat through the effort of Lone District Congressman Angelo O. Montilla, the proponent of House Bill No. 6497 which was approved on August 16, 2000.
Interested writers and photographers may visit the city’s website www.tacurongcity.net for more information. (aca-PIA12/LGU-Tacurong)
