Power utility Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) will start its read-and-bill-on site system beginning November to speed up the delivery of power bills to consumers.

The new system makes use of a portable electronic device in calculating power consumption after reading from the electric meter. The device has an internal printer which is capable of printing the power bill on site.

Engr. Dominador Liwag, Decopr retail sales manager and concurrent human resource head, said the corporation continues to think of ways  to improve its services for consumers’ satisfaction.

“With all the measures introduced, it is still the customers’ choice on what way he would like to pay his bills,” Liwag said during the KBP Forum held at the Philippine Information Agency office on Thursday.

Liwag said Decorp has widened its office and installed more chairs for its customers. It has five field offices and has tapped six banks where customers could also pay their bills.

He said the company’s new software program in collection has been made more efficient and can serve a paying customer in 35 seconds.  Decorp has aregistered a 99-percent collection efficiency.

“Decorp sees to it that it fulfills its obligations but part of the responsibility falls on the consumers,“  Liwag said.

In the recent typhoon and monsoon rains that battered Dagupan City, Liwag said Decorp encountered minimal problems in maintenance and rehabilitation. Power supply was stable during the entire duration of the storm, he said. (VHS/PIA-1/Pangasinan)
